To help you decide which resources to visit, we have provided information about each resource before you click through to the resource itself.

The material that you can access through this website is intended to help you prepare yourself for study on a research degree at a UK university.

There is around 40 hours of material here, selected to cover the main topics and issues that digital scholars such as yourself have to deal with. We don’t expect you will want to work through all this material, or even all the topics. We expect that you will look for the resources that are of particular interest or concern to you, and focus on exploring those.

For each resource we have provided answers to the following questions:

  • How much study time is involved? Some of these resources take just a few minutes to work through. Others require a couple of hours of study. Be sure you know what you are starting!
  • What kind of media is involved? Some of these resources are slideshows or animations with very little text, others are mainly text. How much reading do you want to do?
  • Who are the authors? Do you particularly want material that has been produced by a UK university? Or a USA one? Or by an individual? Or by company such as Google?
  • What do you want to do with the material? Just work through it? Download it for your own use? Download it to use for another purpose? Check that the licence allows you to do what you want with it.

Think before you link and you will save time.
